The most common house available in in the middle colonies are farmhouses. They are long houses, usually consisting of one or two stores with three or four rooms around a central chimney. There are also houses called Row Houses: rows of terraced houses built in brick. In New York and Boston row houses are called "Brownstones" and are typically multiple stories high. With the extremely fertile l available in in the Middle Colonies, there are mainly farmhouses.
Some the the richer people of New York have built themselves grand Georgian Mansions around the Hudson River. Theses mansion are spacious, opulent, and elegant. Usually the houses are built symmetrically, are square, with columns at the entrance. The color of choice for these houses are mainly white, because it gave it elegance.

The Middle Colonies are known as the Breadbasket. This would explain why the staple food of almost any community was bread. The rich and fertile soil of this region enormously contributes to the food. Bread is part of each meal in a household.
